My Story

I am the mother of three fantastic children spanning in age from toddler to teenager. We live in beautiful Bailey, CO, along with my husband, Bobby, and our many animals. I spend my time homeschooling my two older children, gardening, cultivating and wildcrafting herbs and herbal remedies, hiking, and camping when I have time off-call. I'm a trained metalsmith and printmaker, among my many other artistic interests, but spend little time doing them these days as I keep finding new and interesting things to learn.

I discovered my life's passion through the pregnancy and birth of my first child. I planned a home birth with a wonderful midwife, but unfortunately developed pre-eclampsia at 37 weeks. Pre-eclampsia is a very serious condition for both mom and baby, so an immediate hospital induction was necessary. While the birth was very different from the idyllic home birth I had hoped for, the experience was empowering and transformative. I advocated for myself, knew what I would allow and not allow, asked what was truly necessary to do in the moment medically and what options we had as far as watching and waiting. In the end, I had a very powerful birth without pain meds that changed my life in more ways than I could have ever imagined.

I have since gone on to have two wonderful home births, which I have shared with you through this website. All of the photographs on these pages are of my family and myself during our labors, births and early postpartum moments. It seems only fair to share these precious moments with you as you contemplate sharing your own with me.

I began attending births as a doula in 2010, not long after my daughter's birth. I enrolled in a midwifery program in 2011, and I began my hands-on midwifery training the following year as an apprentice midwife. Over the following years, I trained under 5 different preceptors in Colorado and Texas doing both home birth and birth center births.  I first received my license to practice midwifery in Texas in 2017, where I continued to practice for several years. I have since moved back home to Colorado, received my license to practice here, and have opened my own home birth practice.  â€‹I am especially excited to be able to fill a need for a midwife in the rural mountain towns along the 285 corridor who have not had a local midwife in awhile. Every community should have easy access to midwifery care!

I will travel within 1.5 hours of my home--more if I do not have any other clients due within your birthing window. Feel free to contact me if you are further, and we can discuss options and availability.
